Navient Director of Security - Remote, US in Austin, Texas

The Director of Security position will report to the Chief Technical Officer.

As the Director of Security, you will:

  • Create a strategic security program approach (based on risk assessment, acceptance, and management) for Earnest across security, privacy, and compliance and translate that into a roadmap to execute.

  • Be responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and reporting on security and technical compliance controls throughout the company which align with our security and compliance maturity expectations.

  • Manage the delivery of all day-to-day information security operations, policies, architecture, and governance.

  • Regularly provide the leadership team with useful measurement of security risks and mitigation plans.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their needs and workflows to keep abreast of how Earnest business operates when assessing security and compliance for our company.

Your Impact:

  • Be responsible for creating the overall security and privacy programs at Earnest.

  • Create a security program that advances our security maturity along multiple facets based on both internal and external assessments and which enables and supports business growth and agility.

  • Build strong partnerships with the rest of the organization, in particular with the Navient security and compliance teams, Earnest engineering, Data and Product teams, and Earnest leadership team.

  • Create and foster a culture of early partnership and thoughtful risk management to appropriately balance risk and growth.

About You:

  • 10+ years of relevant work experience leading corporate information security and compliance programs and an ability to contribute at both strategic and tactical levels.with experience in a lead role or supervisory experience.

  • Certifications: CISSP, CISM, CISA, or CRISC are a PLUS

  • Experience with SOX compliance.

  • Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, networks, and modern technology stacks and SDLCs.

  • Familiarity with regulatory standards such as SOC 2, PCI DSS, and ISO 27001/2.

  • Expertise in developing and managing a security vision and documentation of security controls.

A little about our pay philosophy: We take pride in compensating our employees fairly and equitably. We are showcasing a range of your potential base salary, determined primarily based on a candidate’s location. Earnest takes a market-based approach, categorizing U.S. locations into one of five zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will also be determined based on job-related qualifications, internal compensation, and budget. This range may be modified in the future.
